Biography

Attorney John L. Dewitsky, Jr. is a 1989 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania. After graduating with honors from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, he received his juris doctorate from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. At Dickinson, Attorney Dewitsky received the high honor of being selected to the National Order of Barristers, an honor bestowed on only a select few students who demonstrate excellence in the art of courtroom advocacy. Before entering law school, Attorney Dewitsky served as a Patrol Ranger at the Lake Naomi Club in Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania and also as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Tobyhanna Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He also served as Township Comptroller for Coolbaugh Township in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

During law school, Attorney Dewitsky worked in the Office of the District Attorney of Monroe County, Pennsylvania and in the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Tax Litigation Section, in Harrisburg. After graduation from law school, he practiced in Stroudsburg and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he engaged in general civil practice, working extensively in the Courts of Monroe, Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon, and Pike Counties. In 2009, he formed the Law Office of John L. Dewitsky, Jr., P.C., and opened his office in Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

Attorney Dewitsky is admitted to practice in all Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Monroe County Bar Associations. His practice consists primarily of representing clients in Stroudsburg and all of Monroe County, Pennsylvania in divorce and family law (divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, alimony, protection from abuse, paternity, annulment, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, adoption, legal separation, and guardianship), wills and estate administration (Wills, Power of Attorney, Living Wills, Advanced Health Care Declarations, Estate Administration, Probate, Guardianship, Estate Litigation, Will Contests, Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax Returns) and mortgage foreclosure (Monroe County Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program, Mortgage Loan Modification, Short Sales, Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure, Mortgage Foreclosure Defense). Attorney Dewitsky has successfully represented hundreds of clients over more than a decade in all stages of litigation, including trials, arbitrations, and hearings of various types in the Courts of Monroe County, Pennsylvania, as well as appellate practice before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
